Position Overview
The SHE Manager will lead and oversee the University’s Safety, Health and Environmental management systems. The role involves developing strategic SHE programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations.
Qualifications Required
- Degree in Environmental Science & Health, Occupational Safety or any related field.
- Professional certification- OSHEMAC/NEBOSH/ SAMTRAC or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environment with 2+ years in leadership position.
- Registered with relevant professional body.
- Strong knowledge of SHE legislation and ISO standards
- Experience managing teams and safety management systems

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the University’s SHE policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations applicable to educational institutions.
- Advise management on SHE risks, legal compliance, and strategic improvements.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections across academic buildings, laboratories, residences, workshops, and offices.
- Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor workplace and campus conditions to ensure health and wellbeing of staff and students.
- Develop and coordinate safety, health and Environmental programs for staff and students, including medical surveillance where required.
- Monitor and report on the University’s environmental impact and sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and deliver SHE training programs for staff, students, and contractors.
- Ensure contractors working on campus comply with University safety and environmental standards.
- Review safety plans for construction, maintenance, and renovation projects.
