Position Overview
The Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the University's Campus Master Plan, leading the architectural design of new capital projects, and ensuring all building and renovation projects align with NUST’s strategic vision, institutional standards, and statutory requirements. This role serves as the internal design authority and technical advisor on all building aesthetics and functionality
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
- Registered or eligible to register with IAZ & ACZ
- A relevant Master’s Degree (e.g., Architecture, Urban Design) will be a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in architectural design and project execution.
- Proven experience in designing large-scale institutional or commercial building projects.
Skills & Competencies
● Collaborating closely with the Quantity Surveying team to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing, managing, and continuously updating the NUST Campus Master Plan to guide future physical development, ensuring sustainable growth and optimal space utilization.
- Ensuring all architectural designs and construction documentation comply with relevant Zimbabwean Building Codes, local authority by-laws, and environmental regulations.
- Reviewing and approving architectural drawings proposed by external consultants and contractors to guarantee design integrity and quality control.
- Collaborating closely with the Quantity Surveying team to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project budgets.
- Serving as the technical expert and advisor to Physical, Planning, Works and Estates Department on all matters relating to architectural design, building aesthetics, and space standards.
- Overseeing the proper compilation and archiving of all architectural drawings, project documentation, and building specifications.
