Position Overview
• Assisting the University Librarian with the overall administration of the Library and coordination of library operations and staff activities,
• Linking staff activities and operations to the Library’s strategic goals and assessment plans;
• Monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery and carrying out customer satisfaction surveys;
• Implementing Information Literacy Programs in consultation with the relevant Stakeholders;
• Marketing and promotion of library services and resources;
• Coaching and mentorship of staff, and interns in the library;
• Supervising staff development initiatives, including training and performance appraisals;
• Contributing to programme and institutional audits, quality assurance reviews, and reporting;
Qualifications Required
• Possess an MSc in Library and Information Science or equivalent from a recognised institution
• Have at least five (5) years post qualification experience in an academic/ research Library setting at an Assistant Librarian/ Sub- Librarian position.
• Be a member of a relevant professional Library and Information Science body
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Library Management, Automation and E-Library services
• Have knowledge of the current library trends
• Have excellent leadership, supervisory, digital literacy and communication skills.
• Be able to work independently and collaboratively with various departments as a team player.
• Evidence of research and publications will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Reporting to the University Librarian, the Deputy Librarian supports the University Librarian in providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and innovative service delivery. The incumbent will play a key role in advancing the library’s mission as a hub for academic excellence, digital transformation, and student success for the achievement of the University’s strategic and national mandates.
Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with university policies, national standards, and accreditation requirements;
• Overseeing the maintenance of library facilities and buildings;
• Compiling quarterly, annual, monitoring and evaluation reports;
• Any other duties as assigned by the Librarian
