ASSISTANT/SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR, TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Position Overview


● Identifies training and professional development needs of both academic and support staff;
● Draws and manages the University’s Staff training calendar;
● Organises and coordinates training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff members;
● Liaises with internal and external training providers to design and deliver relevant training programs;
● Manages the University’s training and staff development budget and ensures optimal utilization of training programs and funds;
● Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of staff development initiatives and makes recommendations for improvements;
● Organizes social and recreational activities to promote staff morale and team
- building;
● Represents the University in external forums and networks related to staff development and welfare;
● Contributes to formulating and revising policies and guidelines related to staff development and welfare;
● Ensures the consistent application and implementation of staff development and welfare policies across the University;
● Provides advisory support to University management on training and staff development;
● Prepares periodic reports, statistical analyses, and training and staff development evaluations for University staff;
● Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Human Resources Management from a recognised University with at least four (4) years’ post
- qualification experience, or a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from a recognised University with at least two (2) years’ post
- qualification experience in a university environment. A professional qualification in Training and Development will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies


● Ability to assess training needs and develop training programs;
● Strong understanding of HR principles and practices;
● Knowledge of labour laws and compliance;
● Experience in organizing workshops and seminars;
● Excellent liaison, verbal and written communication skills;
● Experience in managing budgets, especially for training and welfare programs;
● Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of training and staff development initiatives;
● Competence in preparing reports and statistical analysis.
